Smithey's polished cast iron cookware features a smooth surface that becomes naturally non-stick with use. Each piece is carefully buffed, ground, and polished to create a beautiful, satin-like finish. To enhance its non-stick properties, we recommend using oil, which helps build additional seasoning layers over time. Smithey cookware is compatible with all cooktops, including induction, electric, and gas, and is completely safe for use in the oven and on the grill. With curved interior sides designed for movement and flipping, along with longer handles to keep your hands safely away from heat, Smithey cookware is engineered to handle anything on your cast iron cooking journey. These beautiful pieces are designed to provide a lifetime of meals and memories.

Cleaning:

  • Lightly wash with warm water.
  • For stubborn food remnants, use a soft scrape with a metal spatula or a touch of dish soap with a nylon scouring pad.
  • Avoid heavy-pressure scrubbing.
  • Thoroughly dry your Smithey after each use and apply a light layer of vegetable oil before storing.
  • Store it on your range, preferably over a burner for a few minutes to ensure it is completely dry.
  • Do not place your Smithey in the dishwasher or soak in water.

Cooking Advice:

  • Heat slowly; cast iron absorbs heat slowly but retains it effectively.
  • Allow about 4-5 minutes for your skillet to reach the appropriate searing temperature.
  • Use frequently; the oil from your food keeps it healthy.
  • Clean with warm water, and a few drops of dish soap won't hurt.
  • After cleaning, dry and wipe the entire piece with a touch of cooking oil.
