Silvio Grasso's 2020 Barolo is a prime example of the elegance and power that defines wines from this prestigious region. The winery, located in La Morra within the Piedmont region of Italy, is known for its dedication to traditional Barolo winemaking practices combined with modern techniques that enhance the quality and expression of their wines.

Vineyard & Terroir: The 2020 Barolo is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, sourced from select vineyards with calcareous clay soils, which are ideal for producing wines with great structure and aging potential. The vineyards are situated in prime locations within La Morra, one of the key communes in Barolo production.

Winemaking: After careful hand-harvesting, the grapes undergo a lengthy fermentation process, followed by aging in large Slavonian oak barrels for about two years. This traditional aging method allows the wine to develop its complex flavors and firm tannic structure, characteristic of Barolo wines.

Flavor Profile: The 2020 Barolo is expected to exhibit the classic Nebbiolo characteristics of ripe red cherry, dried rose petals, and tar, with underlying notes of licorice, leather, and tobacco. The wine is full-bodied with a robust tannin structure, balanced by bright acidity, making it both approachable in its youth and capable of aging gracefully over the next decade or more.

Pairings: This Barolo is a perfect match for rich, flavorful dishes such as braised meats, truffle risotto, or aged cheeses. Its complexity and depth also make it an ideal wine to enjoy on its own, allowing the nuanced flavors to shine.
