Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2023
The Sonoma Coast is Pinot Noir's edge — literally. This appellation stretches along the Pacific, where the marine layer rolls in each evening, temperatures drop sharply after dark, and the vines spend their days in a push-pull between sunshine and cold ocean air. That stress is exactly what Pinot Noir needs to build complexity. The sandy, well-drained soils here add a mineral finesse you won't find in warmer inland appellations.
The 2023 vintage was a strong one across the Sonoma Coast, with the weather cooperating to deliver ripe, even fruit without sacrificing structure. This bottling opens with a clear ruby color and a nose of red cherry, pomegranate, dried rose, and forest floor. On the palate it's medium-bodied and silky — the hallmark of cool-climate Pinot — with supple tannins, bright acidity, and a lingering finish of spice and subtle earth.
Drink now through 2028. Pairs beautifully with salmon, duck breast, mushroom risotto, roasted beets with goat cheese, or charcuterie. Sonoma Coast, California. 2023.
