A good supper sometimes leaves a stubborn patch in the pan. Smithey's Chainmail Scrubber is made for those baked-on bits, with stainless steel links that loosen food while you work gently over the seasoned surface. We like it for the jobs that need a little more help than a soft brush.

The five-inch square works on both cast iron and carbon steel cookware. Use a light swirling motion rather than bearing down, then give the pan its usual dry-and-oil finish. The scrubber itself is dishwasher safe, so cleanup does not have to become another project. Keep it near the sink for the next skillet supper.
