Georges Lignier | Bourgogne Rouge (Pinot Noir)
-Local Athens Pick-up Only-
This elegant and expressive red wine is produced by Domaine Georges Lignier & Fils, located in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Burgundy region of France. The winery, now led by Benoît Stehly, maintains a commitment to traditional winemaking practices and sustainable viticulture, producing wines that are a true reflection of their terroir.
Georges Lignier Bourgogne Rouge is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, sourced from various parcels in the region, including the notable "Champs de la Vigne." The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with 80% of the grapes destemmed and a short cold maceration period. It is then aged for 12-14 months in older oak barrels, ensuring a well-balanced and nuanced profile.
This wine showcases a bright ruby color and an aromatic bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, and earthy notes, with subtle hints of spice and floral undertones. On the palate, it offers fresh and vibrant flavors of red berries, complemented by a smooth texture, fine tannins, and a lively acidity, leading to a clean, elegant finish.
Pairings
This versatile Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including roasted poultry, charcuterie, and mushroom-based dishes. Its bright acidity and balanced profile make it an excellent match for grilled vegetables, light pasta dishes, and soft cheeses. Ideal for both casual gatherings and more formal occasions. -AO
